Sunday 21st May 2006:  Information from Janet Inman on Sport Relief:-
As you are probably aware from the mass of advertising taking place on the radio and television at the moment the Sainsbury's Sports Relief Mile take place on the 15th of July.
In Lincolnshire you can run the mile at the City of Lincoln Community College on Skellingthorpe Road, Lincoln.
There will be two mile courses, you can choose which you would like to do. There will be a timed mile for athletes wanting to improve their mile time, for the serious athlete, the second will be a fun mile where you can dress up or do the mile in a comical way.
As well as taking part in the mile there will also be an opportunity for ATHLETICS to promote itself at the event. We have asked all sports to provide a fun activity to allow people to 'have a go on the day.' Instead of this just being an opportunity to do the mile we want to make it a sporting extravaganza.
What can you do to help?
1) Log on to the Sport Relief site http://www.sportrelief.com/ and become a sport relief miler.
2) Encourage your sport to take part in the day by coming along and providing an activity to encourage people to become more active.
3) Pass on this information across your sporting network.
The money raised from Sport Relief will go to help vulnerable people leading tough lives here at home in the UK, and in the poorest countries in the world.
We hope to make this a showcase occasion for Lincolnshire Sport, Help us to make this a fantastic sporting day for the county.
